Our 5 Pillar Support Program Approach

ECF places a strong emphasis on collaboration and forming partnerships to attain sustainability, and works with local environmental non-profit organizations to support them in their efforts to:

Promote Global Best Environmental Practices

There is no need to “reinvent the wheel”. There are globally recognized best environmental practices in the focal areas that ECF supports: water and biodiversity.

Engage Communities

The best way to engage a community is to listen to their perspectives and needs, and provide opportunities for environmental improvement, job creation and community empowerment. Social marketing techniques provide a deeper understanding of the perceptions and needs of the community and can be employed to engage communities, as well as change people's behavior. Wherever possible, environmental programs should include job creation. Empowering communities through knowledge and decision making sharing is another proven way to get them involved. Only through community engagement will positive changes take hold.

Engage Schools

ECF firmly believes that the best place to start with the message of conservation and sustainable development is with our children. In addition, countries realize that Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education forms a foundation for competitiveness in the 21st century. ECF is facilitating and supporting environmental education programs that integrate student environmental field experiences with in-class student STEM learning and national learning standards.

Engage Corporations

ECF joins the ranks of leading corporations in realizing that sustainability is just good business in the 21st century. By working with local environmental non-profit organizations on community projects, corporations can 1) improve their brand, 2) enhance their license to operate in the community, 3) improve employee morale, 4) increase the sophistication of their young managers, and 5) contribute towards fulfilling sustainability reporting requirements such as the Global Reporting Initiative. ECF works with local environmental non-profit organizations and corporations to make this happen.

Scale Impact

ECF works with local environmental non-profit organizations to develop strategies, as well as work with enabling technologies in order to support their efforts to scale up their impact.

Replicating and Adapting a Successful Approach

ECF has successfully achieved these outcomes with CNM, the local NGO ECF supports in Moldova, and ECF is now expanding this program approach to Namibia and South Africa.

Using a program approach foundation built on these 5 pillars, we are focused on capacity building training and partnership development.
